Fishing has been a favourite past time for many people for a long period of time now, so what started as a means of getting food developed into a hobby as well as a sport. Due to the growth
in popularity there are now lots of holidays that orientate around fishing. There is a selection including boat holidays and ones where you stay in a hotel and travel to the fishing destination each day. There are now fishing holidays available in nearly any kind of destination whether it is in the UK or Australia.
With there being different destinations there are also different techniques you should use at these different locations. Some of these different techniques and the areas they should be used in are;
Fly FishingFly fishing is an ancient method of catching fish, and is a technique renowned for catching trout and salmon. Today fly fishing is used to catch a wide variety of species including pike, bass, pan fish, and carp, as well as some marine species, such as redfish, snook, tarpon, bonefish and striped bass.
The method of fly fishing is to use artificial flies, known as the fly lure, which are made to imitate insects that fish consume on the surface of the water. The fly imitates the movements of an insect by the line being slowly reeled in and out, and because they would be used on waters such as rivers and other slow moving waters it would float and move freely.
Fish that try to eat the fly are then caught by the hook hidden within the fly and then slowly reeled in. It is a method used in fresh water fishing so would be suitable for those types of holidays.
Angling is another form of fishing also more commonly referred to as sport fishing or recreational fishing. This practice involves the catching of fish by means of an "angle" (hook). The hook is usually attached by a line to a fishing rod and sometimes has a float attached to indicate when a fish has been caught. Weights attached to the line allow the fisherman to cast their line out far into the water and then hold the line steady if the sea if it is choppy or ruff. The hook is always baited to attract fish to it, when a fish starts to eat the bait the float begins to bob telling the fisherman that there is a fish on his line, and at that point he raises his rod sharply to hopefully snag the fish. This method is used in sea fishing so would be used on holidays such as sea boating holidays.
